Meet The Professionals!

AUTHOR
Holly Jo Radtke
Becoming a self-published author doesn’t mean you do everything yourself. It still takes a team filled with professionals who care about your book as much as you do. It’s been surreal to have such a great team by my side through it all. They helped make my story as strong as possible, and I couldn’t be more thankful. These professionals come from all over the world: Canada, the USA East Coast, New Zealand, Thailand, the UK, and Minnesota locals!

EDITOR
Jennifer Rees
It was so much fun working with Jennifer! She provided the developmental editing services, which made the story evolve. If you read my original manuscript/sneak peek and then re-read it after working with Jennifer, you’d be able to tell the improvements that were made based on her professional expertise. Scenes were added, some were changed, and others were taken out completely. She helped keep Jaemes true to herself and made sure she had a story worth telling.

EDITOR
Alyssa Matesic
Alyssa helped ensure my query letter and synopsis were in tip-top shape for literary agents. Not only did I get to work with her personally, but I also watched a lot of her YouTube videos to get as much advice as I could! Alyssa went through my list of agents and also added a few more. Although I’m no longer pursuing traditional publishing, I will still take everything I’ve learned from her and use it in the future with other novels if I decide to try submitting to agents again!

MARKETER / SELF-PUBLISHING MENTOR
Ben Galley
I learned so much from working with Ben. He’s a bestselling self-published author with a lot of advice to share! There are many aspects to self-publishing a book. You don’t just write a story and simply add it to Amazon. There is so much more to it– pricing, formatting files, setting up the right keywords, marketing towards the right audience, promoting, royalties, etc. I know I have even more to learn and experience, as this is my debut novel, but Ben never shies away from giving more advice and answering all my questions!

MARKETER / PHOTOGRAPHER
Morgan Bjorklund
Morgan helped create and showcase so much of my journey! She captured the joy I felt while writing this book in every one of her photos. She had a vision and made it happen! Some of my recent social media content has been all Morgan at Silver Lining Marketing! She creates such cool graphics and helps tell my story WITH my story!

PHOTOGRAPHER
Laura - Images 4 Life Photography
Laura did an amazing job with my author photos! She had so many ideas and poses ready for me to try. It was easy to show my true, authentic self to the camera, and the photos turned out STUNNING!

FINAL BOOK DESIGNER
Evgeniya G.
Although Evgeniya didn’t originally design my book cover, she did SAVE IT! The original designers were no longer available for the many changes my cover ended up needing. Evgeniya had absolutely no problem making the changes I wanted/needed. And she made it even better! Here is something you may not know: every platform has book cover templates to go by when adding your book. And even though my book has 344 pages and dimensions of 5.5"x8.25", all the templates are DIFFERENT! Evgeniya changed my cover so many times to ensure it was compatible with Barnes & Noble, Amazon/KDP, IngramSpark, etc. So thankful for her! I can’t wait for her to design more covers for my books!

ORIGINAL BOOK DESIGNER
INK Book Design
I found INK Book Designs on Etsy, and they created the original cover for The Log House on the Right. I was able to pick from three different designs after explaining my vision, and I ended up combining two! I printed my rough draft with this glossy cover to give to friends and family. The edited story was also attached to this glossy cover for ARC readers. The updated cover Evgeniya created will be matte and is the final cover attached to the new interior, showcased online and in stores! INK Book Designs created the “look”/”vibe” I’d like for future covers. Fun fact: my cover is included on their Etsy page!

BOOK INTERIOR DESIGNER / FORMATTER
Paul Salvette
Paul at BB eBooks, whom Ben recommended, did a perfect job formatting the interior of my book. It looks very professional and is now formatted perfectly for paperback printing and ebook uploading! The scene breaks are now a tiny mountain with some trees around it--it's all so cool!
